FIRST FASHION CULTURE SHOW

The FASHION CULTURE event took place on Saturday 11th February in the Royal Wilanow Palace Orangery in Warsaw. It was an international fashion show and competition in which the world’s leading fashion colleges participated. This year there came from Great Britain the London College of Fashion and Central St Martins College of Art and Design and from Poland the Lodz Academy of Fine Arts, Cracow Art School and the Warsaw International School of Costume and Fashion Design.
The Project Creator and Coordinator was Mrs Katarzyna Kwiatkowska-Dzialak. The partners and co-organisers were Wilanow Academy Association and the Academy of Style and Beauty as well as Postscriptum Graphic Design and the Media Art Centre. The event presenter was the journalist Marcin Manka together with Anna Piszczalka, who was a finalist in the first Polish edition of Top Model. Sabio Janiak was the event music DJ.
The Jury Leader was the renown Polish fashion designer Joanna Klimas, who was helped by jurors, notably Biljana Poposka Roberts from the London College of Fashion. In the course of the fashion show we saw the collections from Poland of Aga Pou, Monika Blazusiak, Agnieszka Kowalska, Monika Jaworska, Kamila Gawronska-Kasperska and Dominika Pietukowska-Swed and from Great Britain Nova Chiu, Susana Bettencourt, Suzannah Gardner, Liz Black, Ziv Kazenstein and Ryohei Kawanishi. The last fashion show was the result of collaboration of four young talents: Olga Szynkarczuk – fashion designer, Kasia Piechocka – jewelry designer, Kamila Siemiątkowska – make up artist and Justyna Mysior – stylist. The young designers received prizes including an internship in Great Britain (Dominika Pietukowska-Swed) and an exhibition in Warsaw’s upmarket shopping mall The Golden Terraces (Nova Chiu) as well as interviews and articles in ELLE; these were announced by Agnieszka Michalczyk, the Academy of Style and Beauty Head.
During the Fashion Show photographs on the theme of Fashion Culture were exhibited of talented photographers living in London, namely Monika S. Jakubowska, Krystian Data and Piotr Apolinarski. The evening was crowned by the concert given by the well-known jazz vocalist Monika Lidke and guitarist Maciej Pysz with accompaniasts from London and poetry recitations by Marlena Zynger from Warsaw. The fashion models were from REKLAMEX Model Agencji from Cracow as well as Joost from Warsaw. The MATRIX/LOREAL Poland team were the stylists and the make-up was by the Mokotowska 58 Make-Up Academy. Appetizers served by Resteuracja Herezja. Stimulated the senses coffee Chicco d’Oro.
The event was supported by Boris Johnson – the Mayor of London, the British Embassy and Polish Embassy in London. The Fashion Show was opened by Jessica Glover, Deputy Head of Mission and Consul General British Embassy, who spoke about the international cooperation of both countries in the field of culture and about the new concept of art through fashion as demonstrated by the project FASHION CULTURE.
